LEWISBURG, Pa. –Senior Brendan Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J./Pingry) earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Mid-Atlantic Team on Monday, making him the first Bison player in nearly a quarter-century to garner all-region honors four times. Burgdorf was a first-team selection in 2010 and 2011, a third-team selection as a freshman in 2009, and now he is a second-team choice in 2012.
Burgdorf had another outstanding season both on and off the field this fall. He was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection after leading the Bison in scoring with 11 points on three goals and five assists. The 2010 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. Burgdorf became a member of the 20-goal club earlier this season, and he will graduate ranked in the top 10 on Bucknell's career charts in points (T-10th with 55) and assists (T-8th with 15).
A physics major at Bucknell, Burgdorf was also selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team and the Patriot League Men's Soccer All-Academic Team. A year ago, Burgdorf was an NSCAA Scholar All-American. He represents the men's soccer team in the Bucknell Bison Leadership Academy and has been an annual member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Bucknell has now placed at least one student-athlete on the NSCAA All-Region Team in each of the last 11 seasons under coach Brendan Nash. The program's last four-time all-region honoree was Hall-of-Famer Dave Domsohn from 1985-88.
The Bison finished 7-8-5 this season and advanced to the Patriot League Tournament semifinals.
