Burgdorf, Meyer Represent Bucknell on Patriot League Men's Soccer All-Academic Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. –For the second time in the last week, Bucknell men's soccer senior Patriot\ League\ Men\&rsquo\;s\ Soccer\ All\-Academic\ Team.
This was the second year in a row that Burgdorf made the 11-man All-Academic Team. Meyer was selected for the first time. Bucknell, American, Army, Colgate and Lafayette all placed two student-athletes on the team, while Navy had one recipient. American's Colin Seigfreid was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Earlier in the day, Burgdorf, a physics major with a 3.54 cumulative grade-point average, was named to the All-Patriot League Team for the third straight year. For the second year in a row, Burgdorf was named to the watch list for the MAC Hermann Trophy, presented to college soccer's national player of the year. He was the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year in 2010 and is also a two-time NSCAA First Team All-Region pick.
Burgdorf is once again leading a very balanced Bison scoring attack in 2012. He has 11 points on three goals and five assists to rank ninth in the Patriot League in scoring. Burgdorf became a member of the 20-goal club earlier this season, and he now ranks in the top 10 on Bucknell's career charts in points (T-10th with 55) and assists (T-8th with 15).
This is Burgdorf's second straight year on the Capital One Academic All-District Team. Last year he was an NSCAA Scholar All-American and was named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team. Burgdorf represents the men's soccer team in the Bucknell Bison Leadership Academy and has been an annual member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Meyer is enjoying an outstanding junior year for a Bison squad that will be playing in the Patriot League Tournament starting on Friday. Meyer has started all 19 games, primarily as an outside midfielder, although recently he has played been playing right fullback. Meyer ranks third on the team in minutes played and has two goals and an assist for five points.
Meyer's first career goal came at Florida Gulf Coast in the third game of the season, an 84th-minute equalizer that sent the game to overtime. He added another goal in a win over Adelphi and assisted on Burgdorf's goal in a 1-1 draw with Navy. Meyer has five career assists in addition to the two goals.
Off the field, Meyer owns a stellar 3.97 cumulative GPA in mechanical engineering. He has a 4.0 GPA within his major and has made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll every year so far.
Bucknell is 7-7-5 overall and 2-3-2 in the Patriot League. The Bison will be the No. 4 seed in the Patriot League Tournament, which gets underway Friday at American University. The Bison will take on top-seeded American at 11 a.m., followed by No. 2 Lafayette and No. 3 Colgate in the other semifinal match.
