Bucknell's Mike Nicholson Named Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell men's swimming and diving's Mike Nicholson (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) was named the Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week on Monday after placing first in three individual races at this weekend's tri-meet against host American and Navy. Nicholson, who collected three of Bucknell's four individual victories in the meet, posted his season-best time in the 200 fly (1:50.35), 1.78 seconds away from his school record in the event.

Nicholson's three victories came by a total of 5.06 seconds as he captured the 200 breast (2:05.21) and the 200 IM (1:54.33) in addition to the 200 fly. Nicholson has placed in the top two in all nine individual events this season, with seven first-place finishes.

An eight-time Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week during his three-year career, Nicholson also swam the third leg of the 200 medley relay. The Bison quartet placed sixth in the race with Nicholson swimming his butterfly portion in 23.31.

The junior holds three school records in the 200 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM, and is in the top ten school records in the 200 breast (2^nd), 1,000 free (7^th), and 400 medley relay (10^th).

Nicholson and the Bison defeated American (196-98) but lost to Navy (187-108). Bucknell will swim at home this weekend against Lafayette at Kinney Natatorium.
