Bison Swimming and Diving Hosts Three-Day Bucknell Invitational this Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. -The Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be competing at home for a second consecutive weekend. The Bison will host the three-day Bucknell Invitational this weekend starting Friday, Nov. 16. Prelims will begin each day at 10 a.m., while finals will be at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 5 p.m. on Sunday. The meet mimics the Patriot League Championships in terms of schedule and length. This is the 11th consecutive year Bucknell has participated in a mid-season, multi-day meet.
Binghamton, Delaware, Fordham, Georgetown, La Salle and Yale (men only) will join the Bison to form a strong field for this weekend's scored event.
The Bucknell men (3-2, 2-1 Patriot League) are coming off a 186-112 win over Lafayette last Saturday at Kinney Natatorium. Junior Mike Nicholson captured the 1,000 free, 100 breast and 200 back to lead the Bison, who swept the top three spots in six different events. Matt Hadley (100 back, 500 free) and Christian Treat (200 free, 200 IM) also posted multiple wins for Bucknell.
The Bison women (2-3, 2-1 Patriot League) also defeated Lafayette last Saturday, posting a 194.5-103.5 victory. Bucknell claimed first place in 14 of 16 events against the Leopards. Ashley Henderson (100 breast, 200 back), Lauren Perry (100 free, 100 fly) and Katie Hetherington (one-meter diving, three-meter diving) each posted multiple victories in the dual meet.
Seventh-year Bucknell head coach Dan Schinnerer has recently moved up a pair of Bison coaching lists. He is now tied for second on the women's meets coached list (62) with Jerry Foley. Schinnerer owns a 35-26-1 record as the head coach of the women's team. On the men's side, Schinnerer (37-24 record) last week moved past Foley and into third place on the meets coached list (61).
Bucknell, which is hosting the Patriot League Championships in February, will next be in action Dec. 1 against Binghamton at Kinney Natatorium. Start time for that dual meet is 1 p.m.
