APALACHIN, N.Y. -- Dan Bernard and Schuyler Stitzer both fired 1-over-par 73s on Sunday to help the Bucknell men's golf team to a 295 team score, and the Bison sit alone in second place after the first of two rounds of the Binghamton Invitational. On a chilly day at the Links at Hiawatha Landing, Bucknell posted one of only four sub-300 rounds in the 16-team field, and the Bison enter Monday's final round four shots behind Laval.
Bernard and Stitzer are tied for 10th place after posting matching 73s. Pete Scialabba 78. Each of Bucknell's top four players are in the top 20 in the individual standings.
Canadian school Laval opened with a 291, paced by a 4-under 68 from Ujo Coussaud and a 1-under 71 from Sonny Michaud. Brandon Shin of Hofstra is also 1-under, while six players shot even par.
The Bison will enter the final round with Hofstra and Saint Peter's right on their heels. The Pride and Peacocks both posted 297. St. Bonaventure and host Binghamton are tied for fifth place at 302. Colgate, the only other Patriot League team in the field, shot 317.
