STORRS, Conn. - Freshman Emma Levendoski set a new program top-10 mark in the 100-yard backstroke and Lauren Perry (200 free) and Elizabeth Porcellio (200 IM) posted victories for Bucknell as the Bison women's swimming and diving team participated in its first scored meet of the year Saturday. Bucknell lost both sides of the double dual, falling to host Connecticut 186.5-113.5 and Fordham 173.5-126.5.
Levendoski finished second in the 200 back, but her time of 58.24 seconds ranks eighth in program history. She is just the second active Bison on that list, joining veteran Jennifer Brennan. Levendoski also finished second in the 200 back and swam the leadoff leg of the 200 medley relay that placed fourth.
Perry had a strong day by winning the 200 free to go along with a third-place finish in the 50 free and a fourth-place showing in the 100 free. She also swam on the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay, which touched the wall third.
Porcellio had some high-level finishes as well. She won the 200 IM, finishing one spot ahead of freshman teammate Ashley Henderson. Porcellio was also third in the 100 fly and sixth in the 200 free.
Tori Molchany (3rd off one-meter) and Tara Boyle (fourth off three-meter) were Bucknell's top two divers.
"I was pleased with our overall performance at the meet," commented seventh-year Bison head coach Dan Schinnerer. "Our main emphasis at this point in the season is to see improvement from meet-to-meet and we saw a lot of progress today compared to where we were against UMBC a few weeks ago. That said, we have to make a significant improvement to get to where we ultimately want to be as a team."
Bucknell will take two weeks off before competing in a quad meet against Patriot League foes American, Lafayette and Navy Nov. 3 in Easton, Pa.
Team Scores:
Connecticut 186.5, Bucknell 113.5
Fordham 173.5, Bucknell 126.5
