LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman diver Katie Hetherington (Houston, Texas/Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart) on Monday was named the Patriot League Female Diver of the Week for the fourth time this season. She earned the award after sweeping both diving events at Saturday's Navy Invitational.
Hetherington's honor makes it three straight weeks a Bison has been named the PL Female Diver of the Week. Half of her season's honors have come in the last three weeks, bookending classmate Tori Molchany's award one week ago.
Already the school record-holder off both boards, Hetherington swept both boards for the fifth time this season. She now has 13 first-place finishes. Hetherington's score of 276.85 was her second-highest of the year as she won the event by 32.75 points, while her 231.15 off the one-meter beat out runner-up Molchany by 9.05 points.
Hetherington now leads Patriot League divers in awards this season. Her four honors place her one ahead of Navy's Courtney Vandament, who has been recognized three times.
Hetherington will now prepare for her first career Patriot League Championships, which will take place Feb. 16-18 at Navy. The Bison finished third at the event last year.
