BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Elizabeth Porcellio won three individual events and three new program top-10 diving marks were set on Saturday as the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team defeated Lehigh 189-111 at Jacobs Pool. The Bison completed the dual-meet portion of their schedule with a 5-4 overall mark, including 4-2 against Patriot League competition, as they defeated the Mountain Hawks for a second consecutive year.
Porcellio led the way for the deeper Bucknell squad that totaled victories in 11 of the 16 events. She captured the 200 free, 100 fly and 200 IM, in addition to being part of the winning 400 free relay squad with Marisa Taddeo, Lauren Perry and Kaitlyn Utkewicz. Porcellio's win in the 100 fly was especially impressive as it was the first time she has competed in the event this year. Her time of 58.52 was a career best.
The Bison depth shined through in the diving events as Bucknell swept the top three positions in both disciplines with outstanding scores. Tara Boyle, Tori Molchany and Katie Hetherington went 1-2-3 off the one-meter board, each with scores above 235.00. Boyle's winning 249.74 ranks fifth in program history, while Molchany's 236.24 places her eighth. Hetherington already set the school record off both boards earlier this season.
That trio was strong again off the three-meter board with Molchany winning, followed by Hetherington and Boyle. This time all three scored above 240.00 with Molchany's winning 255.30 listing her fifth in the record books.
Porcellio was not the only multi-winner in the pool as Kelly Pontecorvo (500 free, 1,000 free) and Lauren Perry (50 free, 100 free) registered two victories apiece. Kaitlyn Sweeney (200 fly) rounded out the list of Bison winners.
While she did not tally a first-place finish, freshman Emily Norton was consistent, postin a pair of runner-up showings in the 100 breast and 200 breast.
Bucknell will close out the regular season next Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Navy Invitational.
