HAMILTON, N.Y. - A balanced Bucknell men's swimming and diving team ended its month-long layoff with a 205-85 victory at Colgate Wednesday afternoon. The Bison claimed first place in 12 individual events and 12 different student-athletes earned those victories as no Bucknell competitor won more than once. The Bison improved to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 against Patriot League competition, while the Raiders fell to 1-3 on the year.
Bucknell finished first in 13 of the first 15 events before swimming the 800 free relay as an exhibition to conclude the meet. Twelve different Bison earned gold medals as Collin Greene (1,650 free), Eric Sokolosky (200 free), Taylor Harris (100 back), Ben Seketa (100 breast), Matthew Segar (100 free), Gonzalo DeLeon (200 back), Christian Treat (200 breast), Billy Krause (500 free), Trevor Reitz (100 fly), Thomas Brown (200 IM), David Magaro (one-meter diving) and Jon Jones (three-meter diving) were the winners of individual events. Brown, Treat, Erik Heinemann and Bryce Suchomel combined to win the 400 medley relay to open the meet.
The depth of the Bison was evident throughout the meet as they finished first and second in 11 different events. They swept the first three spots five times.
Brown (100 free, 200 free) and Sokolosky (50 free, 100 fly) each collected a pair of second-place finishes to go along with their victory. Nathaniel Frye (100 breast, 200 breast) also posted a pair of second-place showings.
Bucknell took the top four spots in the 100 breast, but perhaps the most interesting item with that race was Bison freshman Tim Perley finishing fourth, one spot ahead of his older brother, Teddy, a Colgate senior captain.
Bucknell will be back in action Saturday with a 1 p.m. meet at Army. The Bison will also host Columbia Sunday at 1 p.m.
