LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman DB Jordan Dudas (Lake City, Pa./Girard) was named the Patriot League Football Rookie of the Week on Monday, two days after recording a season-high six tackles and registering his first career interception in the Bison's 28-14 home victory over Marist. Dudas has been the only freshman in the Bucknell starting lineup in both of the season's first two games.
Dudas ranked second on the Bison in tackles against the Red Foxes. His interception, the second of the game by a Bucknell defensive back, came in the closing minutes and allowed Bucknell to take possession with 1:36 to go and a 14-point lead, leading to three consecutive knees to run out the clock.
Dudas ranks tied for third on the team with 11 tackles this season. He started at the Whip defensive back position in the season opener vs. Duquesne, becoming the first Bison freshman to start on the defensive side of the ball in a season opener since current senior Robert De La Rosa.
Bucknell is 2-0 in Dudas' first two career games. The Bison defeated Duquesne, 27-26, in their season opener. Bucknell heads on the road for the first time this coming week when it plays at Cornell. The game will be televised in Upstate New York on Time Warner.
