LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell field hockey's Amie Pritchard (Rumson, N.J./Kent School (Conn.)) was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The first honor of the season for the Bison comes after the rookie made a key defensive save and helped Bucknell to a 2-1 overtime win over Central Michigan last weekend.
Pritchard recorded her first career defensive save in the final minutes of regulation against Central Michigan on Saturday. She was also part of Bucknell's defensive effort that held the Chippewas scoreless for nearly 70 minutes. The midfielder's play helped set the stage for the Bison to come from behind for the overtime victory, their first of the season.
Pritchard has started all five games so far in her debut campaign, and the defensive award is the first of her career. She is the also the first Bison to be named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week since teammate Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison) and Christine Weiss last season.
Bucknell will return to the field on Saturday when it makes the short trip to Lock Haven for a 1 p.m. game.
