Bucknell Field Hockey Voted Third in Patriot League Preseason Poll

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey was selected third in the 2011 Patriot League Preseason Poll, it was announced on Tuesday. The Bison, which also finished last season as the No. 3 seed in the league's postseason tournament, claimed 36 points in the vote.
Taking first in the latest preseason poll was eight-time defending champion American, which received 50 points and 10 first-place votes. Lafayette was second with 40 points and two first-place votes. Completing the poll was Colgate (22 points), Lehigh (18) and Holy Cross (14).
Bucknell finished the 2010 season with a 7-12 overall record and a 3-2 mark in the Patriot League. Among those returning this year will be the Patriot League Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-League selection Rachel Misko (Morristown, N.J./Madison) as well as fellow Second Team honoree Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison).
The Patriot League Preseason Poll is determined by a vote of head coaches and sports information directors who cannot vote for their own team.
The Bison open their season when they travel to Philadelphia for a noon game at Temple on Friday. Play continues on Sunday against Boston University, also in Philadelphia. Bucknell's home opener is slated for Friday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. against Princeton. The Bison-Tigers matchup will be broadcast live on Bison Vision at BucknellBison.com.
