LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships were held at Kinney Natatorium last week and a number of Bison swimmers competed at the mid-summer event in their home pool. Nine Bucknell men and a pair of Bison women were in action as they combined for 13 top-eight finishes at the four-day meet that concluded this past Saturday.
Five different Bucknell men registered multiple top-eight finishes with Eric Sokolosky leading the way with four. He finished second in the 50 free, third in the 100 free, sixth in the 100 fly and eighth in the 200 free.
Matthew Segar posted the Bison contingent's only victory, winning the 200 free in 1:53.44. He also placed fifth in the 100 free and sixth in the 400 prelims.
Mike Nicholson's three top-six finishes matched Sokolosky for most on the team as he touched the wall third in the 200 fly, fourth in the 400 IM and sixth in the 200 IM.
Thomas Brown, who was fifth in the 200 back and seventh in the 100 back, and Christian Treat, who claimed fourth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 breast, also had strong meets.
Billy Krause, Bryce Suchomel, Stephen McMillin and Michael Davitt also competed during the course of the meet. Each Bucknell swimmer swam in no fewer than three events during the meet with McMillin's six events (100 free, 200 free, 400 free, 800 free, 1,500 free, 100 fly) making him the busiest Bison.
On the women's side, Kelly Purcell was entered in seven events and finished in the top 20 on two occasions (11th in 1,500 free, 19th in 800 free). Kaitlyn Sweeney swam four events with a top finish of 14th in the 100 fly.

Brown, Krause, Nicholson, Segar, Sokolosky and Treat are now scheduled to compete at the U.S. National Championships Aug. 2-6 in Palo Alto, Calif. Along with selecting the year's USA Swimming National Champions, the event will serve as the selection meet for the 2011 Pan American Games, set for Oct. 15-22 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships, set for August 16-21 in Lima, Peru.
