LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell swimming and diving head coach Dan Schinnerer announced the Bison men's program's latest recruiting class on Tuesday. The Class of 2015 includes six newcomers and features five swimmers and one diver. Three of the newcomers are from New York, while the other half of the class hails from Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
“With only two seniors graduating from last year's squad, we know we didn't have to replace too much in regards to numbers and points,” said Schinnerer, who will be entering his sixth season on the Kinney Natatorium deck in 2011-12. “But we are excited because this class will definitely help us become a better overall team this coming season. We know they have the potential to fill in our team depth in a number of important areas and they will also help us gain more flexibility in our dual meet line-ups. These young men have the ability to contribute right away but also some great potential for improvement in the years to come.”
Bucknell lost just two seniors to graduation in 2011 as Michael Volpe and Brendan Wills exhausted their eligibility.
The Bison posted a 6-5 overall mark in 2010-11 and they were 4-2 opposite Patriot League foes. Bucknell finished in third place at the Patriot League Championships, marking its sixth consecutive top-three showing at the league meet.
