Ross Liberati Receives Senior Athletic Award at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Ross Liberati (Warwick, Md./Tower Hill), a three-time All-Patriot League men's soccer player, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held in the Terrace Room on campus on May 3.
Liberati won the Bryan-Humpreys Award, presented to a student-athlete who has exhibited exceptional versatility within his/her sport, displaying outstanding achievement and the selfless determination to help the team succeed by contributing in a variety of ways. Liberati shared the award with women's soccer standout Caitlin Holtz.
In addition to Liberati and Holtz, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class. Two-time Patriot League Women's Soccer Player of the Year Christa Matlack and two-time All-America wrestler Kevin LeValley won the Mathewson Awards.
Liberati this fall earned Second Team All-Region honors from the NSCAA in addition to First Team All-Patriot League recognition. Finishing his senior campaign with a career-high five goals and one assist in addition to anchoring the Bison defense, the co-captain was voted to the all-league first team for a second consecutive year.
Liberati went on claim Patriot League All-Tournament Team honors and was named the tournament MVP as he helped Bucknell record a pair of shutouts while conceding only four shots on goal during the Patriot League Tournament. He also scored both goals in the Bison's 2-0 win over American in the championship game, helping the team win a second straight Patriot League title.
Liberati played both fullback and center midfield during his Bucknell days, and he scored 10 career goals in addition to being a terrific defender.
Bucknell is a highly-selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup, signifying the Patriot League's all-sports champion, in 16 of 20 years.
Bucknell annually ranks among the national leaders in graduation rates. In addition, Bucknell ranks fifth in Division I in the total number of CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, with 119 national Academic All-Americans since 1970.
