LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior first baseman Doug Shribman (Marblehead, Mass./Belmont Hill School) was named the Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Shribman hit .409 with one home run, four extra-base hits and six RBIs in six games last week, helping the Bison post a 4-2 record and clinch a spot in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament.
Shribman was especially strong in a four-game weekend series with Army as he was 5-for-13 (.385) with all six RBIs. His mammoth three-run home run in the second inning of game three vs. the Black Knights proved to be the winning runs in what turned out to be the postseason-clinching game for Bucknell.
A three-time Patriot League Player of the Week in his career, Shribman's homer was his Patriot League-leading 16th this year and the 43rd of his career. He is both Bucknell's and the Patriot League's all-time home run leader.
Shribman, this year, is hitting .320 and owns a season high-tying eight-game hitting streak. His 16 home runs rank third on the program's single-season ledger, while his 49 RBIs are tied for eighth and his 124 total bases rank fourth.
On a career level, Shribman ranks in the top 10 in program history in 13 different categories: batting average (8th, .346), slugging percentage (2nd, .668), on-base percentage (8th, .433), games played (6th, 157), games started (t-5th, 154), at bats (5th, 567), runs scored (t-6th, 131), hits (3rd, 196), doubles (t-2nd, 44), home runs (1st, 43), RBI (2nd, 153), total bases (1st, 379) and walks (3rd, 71).
Shribman and the Bison will be the fourth seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament. Bucknell will play a best-of-three series at Navy May 14-15.
