LEWISBURG, Pa. - Four Bucknell student-athletes were named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Teams on Thursday. Alyssa DeLorenz (Garland, Texas/Plano East), a senior goalie on the women's lacrosse team, Jay Hahn (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), a senior wrestler who qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2011, and field hockey senior Christine Weiss (Bethlehem, Pa./Southern Lehigh) were each first-team selections and will advance on to the national ballot. Women's rowing junior Jillian O'Mara (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge) was a second-team choice.
Hahn was also honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) on Thursday with a spot on its All-Academic Team, becoming the first Bison to earn that award since 1995. He helped the Bucknell wrestling program post the 27th-best grade-point average in the country in 2010-11, according to the NWCA.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America recognition, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve on his or her team. Bucknell has had 119 national Academic All-Americans since 1970, the fifth-highest total among all Division I institutions. DeLorenz, Hahn and Weiss are now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced June 7 (men) and June 9 (women).
Hahn is the first Bison male honored with At-Large Academic All-District honors since Paul Stansik (men's lacrosse) and Charlie Waddell (men's golf) were cited in 2006-07. He is the first Bucknell wrestler to earn Academic All-District plaudits since Ed Curran was an Academic All-American in 1987-88. Additionally, Hahn is the first Bison to be on the NWCA All-Academic team since Bobby Ferraro, Robert Renn, Ty Rothermel and Michael Rush were honored in 1995.
Hahn, who earned the Bucknell Wrestling Most Improved Award at last month's team banquet, joined two-time All-American Kevin LeValley in giving Bucknell a pair of NCAA qualifiers in 2010-11 as he earned his first career berth to nationals. He nearly doubled his previous high win total of 16, posting a 29-12 record, bringing his final career tally to 63-52. Hahn finished fourth in the 197-pound bracket at the EIWA Championships, earning his first automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. At NCAAs, Hahn collected one win against two losses.
Hahn posted four different winning streaks of at least four bouts and was 13-2 in bonus-point matches this past season. He never lost more than two consecutive bouts and finished third at both the Michigan State Open and Navy Classic. Hahn's 29 wins tied for 13th on the program's single-season list.
An accounting major with a 3.85 cumulative GPA, Hahn has appeared on Bucknell's Dean's List every semester of his college career. He is a member of Delta Mu Delta international business honor society and was part of PriceWaterHouseCooper's Summer Leadership Adventure Program in 2009.

A member of the inaugural Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Patriot League Team, DeLorenz has served as a teaching assistant in three different accounting courses at Bucknell, and she has interned at both Johnson & Johnson and Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., in Dallas.
In the local community she has volunteered at a soup kitchen and a nursing home and participated in some youth lacrosse clinics. She served as co-director of spiritual life for Catholic Campus Ministry at Bucknell in 2009-10.
The first Texan ever to play women's lacrosse at Bucknell, DeLorenz was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection in 2011 when she posted 12.8 saves per game to lead the nation. Her 205 saves this past spring stands No. 2 nationally and it is the fifth-highest save total in Bucknell history and is the most in 16 years. DeLorenz finished her career with 689 saves, good for third in program history.
