HAMILTON, N.Y. - Colgate's women's lacrosse squad sprinted to a 15-4 halftime lead and never looked back, defeating Bucknell 20-7 on Saturday afternoon at Tyler's Field. Coupled with Lehigh's win over Navy, the Raiders locked up the No. 1 seed for the Patriot League Tournament, while the Bison saw their season come to an end.
Katelyn Miller and Madison Hurwitz scored two goals apiece and Alyssa DeLorenz made 15 saves in her final collegiate game to lead the Bison, who finish 3-13 overall and 0-6 in the Patriot League.
Colgate (8-6, 5-1) received five goals and an assist from Kate Bergstrom, four goals and an assist from Amanda O'Sullivan and three goals and two assists from Courtney Miller.
The Raiders jumped ahead with two quick goals from Bergstrom and Miller in the first 2:16 of the game, but Bucknell drew even on back-to-back goals from Sophie Kleinert and Miller just a minute apart.
Colleen Bubnack put the Raiders ahead to stay with a shot off a Miller feed at the 23:44 mark, and Bergstrom made it 4-2 just 1:22 later.
Bucknell's Miller made it 4-3 on an 8-meter shot, but the Raiders scored three straight and 13 of the next 14 goals to pull away.
Colgate took 31 first-half shots and finished with a 45-15 advantage. The Raiders won 21 of the 28 draws and had a 23-12 edge in ground balls.
