LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior pitcher Trey Frahler (Northfield, Ill./New Trier) was named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week on Monday, it was announced by the league office. The right-hander pitched seven shutout innings against Air Force on Sunday to earn his first win of the season.
In his fourth start of the year, Frahler yielded just five hits and one walk while striking out a season-high seven as he helped Bucknell to its second straight win, a 5-1 triumph over the Falcons. He allowed only one Air Force player to reach scoring position and left the game with the Bison ahead 5-0 as his ERA dropped from 7.71 to 5.14.
Frahler now has a team-best 21 strikeouts this season and his 141 Ks place him four shy of 10th place on Bucknell's career ledger.
A durable pitcher who has logged a team-high 21.0 innings this year, Frahler now has 12 career victories.
Bucknell has earned at least one Patriot League weekly award in three consecutive weeks.
Bucknell (6-7) was in action Monday and defeated Bradley, 4-1, behind solid pitching from Frahler's classmate Dylan Seeley, who worked into the ninth inning to earn his first win of the year.
