It's hard to believe it's already this time of year again. For me, as well as the other seniors, it's the last time it will ever be `this time of year'. There's a certain nostalgia in the air as we go through these last few weeks as Bison swimmers. I remember freshman year experiencing a lot of `firsts'- first practice on a Division I Varsity swim team, first race as a Bison, first Patriot League Championship experience. Now, I am experiencing all of those things again, but this time they are my `lasts'.
Our Patriot League Championships are just around the corner. As we start to taper down in workouts, the team is getting excited and pumped up. In looking back on our season, we've put in the work required to be the best we can be at championships. Our preparation has included countless practices, lifts, and dryland circuits. We've raced through twelve dual meets and two invitationals. In a sport where tenths and hundredths of a second can mean the difference between first place and not making it into the final heat, preparation is everything. And my team is prepared.
But no matter what happens this year at Patriots, I will always look back with fondness on my career as a Bison athlete. I may not remember the times, or the places. I will remember the experiences I have had and the things I have learned along the way. I will remember my teammates - the people who I lived with, learned with, and grew with. As I make the transition to being a retired swimmer - or "swammer" as we like to call it - those are the things I will take with me. Those are the things that are important. I know that I will always be proud to be a Bison, and I will always "Follow the Herd".
