Brown Breaks Own School Record in 200 Back as Bison Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes 8th at ECAC Championships

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - One day after finishing third in the 100-yard backstroke, Bucknell junior Thomas Brown placed third in the 200 back Sunday at Pittsburgh's Trees Pool on the final day of the ECAC Championships. Brown broke his own school record in the event, leading the Bison to an eighth-place finish in the team standings.
Brown, who was one of four Bucknell swimmers to advance to the finals on Sunday, set a new school record in the 200 back (1:48.04) at last week's Patriot League Championships. He shaved .19 seconds off that mark Sunday as he touched the wall in 1:47.85, just .18 behind second-place Sam Martinette of Navy. Brown finished second in the prelims to earn his spot in the afternoon finals.
Matt Ramey, who finished 16th in the 200 back, Christian Treat, who claimed 13th in the 100 free, and Edward Jew, who posted a 16th-place showing in the 200 fly prelims, also advanced to the finals on Sunday. Treat improved three spots from his prelims finish, while Jew bumped two spots up the results in the finals.
Bucknell's 400 free relay also advanced to the finals and finished fourth. Mike Davitt, Treat, Ramey and Daniel Wallace was the foursome in the prelims, while Brown and Trevor Reitz joined Treat and Wallace in the finals.
Patriot League champion Navy claimed the ECAC team title with 765.5 points, more than doubling up second-place Boston College (377 points).
