LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell football head coach Joe Susan on Monday announced a reorganization of some responsibilities within the Bison coaching staff. Among the handful of changes is the promotion of defensive coordinator Clayton Carlin to assistant head coach.
Carlin, who will continue to oversee the Bucknell defense, will shift his coaching focus from the linebackers to the secondary.
Other changes include Ross Pennypacker taking over the linebacker coaching duties and Chip Taylor assisting Carlin with the defensive backs while continuing in his role as special teams coach.
"We are fortunate to have continuity in our staff and the new roles our coaches will take on will strengthen our efficiency in our preparation for spring practice and the upcoming season," said Susan. "Clayton has experience in all levels of coaching defensive football. His role as the assistant head coach will enable him to continue to grow in his responsibilities within our program. He will be excellent at developing our secondary. Ross has experience at the linebacker level and has a talented group returning. The move will enable Chip to focus more on our special teams, which is an area that we need to improve. Even with these changes, the strength of our staff continues to be filling roles as teachers and mentors to the young men in our program. They all care for our players far beyond the field."
Carlin, Pennypacker and Taylor, as well as Susan, completed their first season with the Bison this past November.
