We have been busy combating the cold while preparing for our season. Beneath the layers of shirts, pants, gloves, and hats, you will find 20 student-athletes and their coaches developing enthusiastically while displaying a strong determination.
Since the start of preseason and classes on Jan. 19, Coach Caline and Meghan have been hard at work teaching us plays, defenses and transitions. By the time the season begins against St. Bonaventure on Feb. 13 at Graham Field, we will have been through so much together and we will have each other's back from one end of the field to the other. It is fascinating to see such a young team coming together as one and learning everything that needs to be learned in such a timely fashion. We are so excited for the season to begin!
We were able to share our enthusiasm for BU lacrosse, and in general the great game of women's lacrosse, with youth and high school lacrosse players from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland at a lacrosse clinic we hosted last Sunday.
There were a total of 45 girls who were incredibly happy to be on Bucknell's campus with us. We had organized instruction sessions, did drills and played games like "steal the bacon" to top off the day. The clinic was a huge success and was a really fun and fulfilling team-building exercise. It was incredibly rewarding to me to see my teammates, most only one year out of high school themselves, instructing and "carrying on" with the participants about the game which we have grown to love and basically live for at Bucknell. I was so proud of everyone! It was great!
As a unit, we know that together we can get through anything that comes our way. Playing a Division I sport at a prestigious university like Bucknell, I look forward to seeing so many laughs and smiles from my teammates. We can't wait for the season to begin and to see where it takes us. We've embraced Caline and Meghan's vision and we are aligned and ready to go!
Come see us play. We could use the support ... and our parents throw one heck of a tailgate afterwards!
