Bucknell Field Hockey Gets 14 Spots on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Fourteen Bucknell field hockey student-athletes were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday. The Bison had one of the league's two players with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the fall semester in Mallory Smith (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland). Also on the team was the 2010 Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Christine Weiss (Bethlehem, Pa./Southern Lehigh).
Bucknell's 14 selections rank second in the Patriot League, and American led the way with 18. The Patriot League recognized a total of 78 student-athletes for their academic success throughout the fall term, and all six schools had at least 10 players named to the honor roll.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must achieve a 3.2 grade-point average in the fall semester.
Selection to the honor roll gives Weiss, Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison) and Sarah Zargarpour (North Vancouver, Canada/Handsworth) their second academic honor from the league. The trio was also named to the inaugural Patriot League All-Academic Team in November.
