The Clinic:
We will introduce you to the Dynamic erg, and approach all parts of the stroke individually and as a unit. The clinic will offer continuous rowing intervals and one-on-one coaching from the Bucknell Women's Rowing coaching staff.
The Facility:
The Bucknell Rowing indoor training facility opened in October 2011 and is the premier erg facility in the country. Located in the Kenneth Langone Athletics and Recreation Center, the two level facility overlooks the varsity weight room. In addition to housing 56 dynamic ergs, the facility has a state-of-the-art audio system that allows for coxswains and coaches to use wireless microphones to coach and encourage the rowers. The video system projects both archived and live video onto a retractable screen as well as multiple LCD monitors for viewing by both student-athletes and coaches. Further enhancements to the video system are forthcoming.
The Dynamic Erg:
The Dynamic Indoor Rower more closely simulates the physics experienced while rowing a racing shell and the "dynamics" between the boat and athlete. On the dynamic erg, a user's body mass is relatively stationary while components of the machine actively move in response to the rowing motion, similar to the way a lightweight rowing shell moves around the rower's body. The difference between this machine and others is that as you row, your feet do most of the moving rather than the seat. The seat is also free to move, but due to the physics of rowing, the seat movement is minimal.
The Dynamic Erg:
1) Provides a closer simulation of the dynamics of on the water rowing.
2) Demands similar concentration and body control needed when in the boat.
3) Serves as a more sport specific training and coaching tool than other models.
4) Favors effective technical movements and more consistent power application.
