November and the regular dual meet season has rolled around quicker than I can remember than in my past year as a Bison swimmer. Beginning the season coming off a summer surgery started me a little slow out of the gate, but the smarts I gained last year have helped me to progress. Sophomore year for many is a second chance to accomplish what we came short of last year. And for all of my sophomore classmates that means a few important things, one of which is to restore our previous second-place standing in the Patriot League.
The season has truly begun with a bang. Faster and faster times are being posted as we move through the beginning of our schedule. After returning from a long Saturday down in Annapolis, we managed to bring home two wins and only one loss, coming from an ever increasing powerhouse in Navy. This meet, swam in the humbling Olympic long course format in accordance with the approaching Olympic year, gave some of our swimmers a chance to test the waters in a run for the Olympic trials this coming summer.
Next weekend the Bucknell Invitational marks an unofficial halfway point in the season and the traditional three-day championship meet format will give us an opportunity to measure how far we have come this season. Fast swims at this meet will set us up for a great second half of the season.
