Sophomore year has been drastically different than last year, and it's only November. I walked into this program with apprehension. I had no idea what to expect from training, the weight room or meets. Everything about college swimming was new and so most of the season was a learning experience. I learned how to deal with adversity, training setbacks and balancing a difficult course load with rigorous Division I competition. This year is much more relaxed. Although we have drastically increased the level of our training, I know what to expect and I know my teammates will be there to push, encourage and inspire me. As a first-year I remember thinking how close our team was in contrast to my high school, but as we have continued to evolve as a program, this team is even closer. I am proud to call these women I train with my best friends. Every day someone does something that amazes me, whether that is a new dive or a best practice time in the middle of a hard set.
This past weekend tested our racing and was a great indicator of where we stand in the league so far this season. We traveled to Annapolis to compete against Navy, American and Lafayette. After the successes of this weekend I believe this team is on the precipice of greatness. There is still a lot of work to be done (some of it in sunny Florida!) but I am confident in our abilities. I am so excited to see what this team can do!
`Ray Bucknell!
