LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bison freshmen Lauren Perry, Stephanie Koziol and Emily Norton combined for three new program top-10 times and were Bucknell's top finishers in three of the five individual events contested Saturday at Kinney Natatorium on the second day of the Bucknell Invitational. The Bison remained in first place in the team standings of the three-day meet with 823 points, 50.5 ahead of second-place Fordham.
Perry posted the top finish on the day for the Bison, touching the wall second in the 200-yard freestyle. She timed in at 1 minute, 54.11 seconds, but her prelim time of 1:54.07 placed her ninth in the school record books in the event. She shaved .32 off her previous best that had listed her 10th. Perry also swam as part of the 800 free relay that placed eighth and the 200 medley relay that finished seventh.
Koziol moved from eighth to fifth on Bucknell's all-time 400 IM list as she finished fourth in 4:28.29 on Saturday. She cut 1.15 seconds off her previous season best. Sophomore Melissa Besman was also in the 400 IM "A" final, placing sixth, just two spots behind Koziol.
Norton also etched her name into the record book with the fifth-best performance in program history in the 100 breast. She finished fourth in her race with a time of 1:06.13 as she was one of five Bison to score points in the event. Sophomore Alyssa Rollando finished first in the "C" final with a time of 1:07.72, more than two seconds better than her prelim time. That 1:07.72 puts her 11th on the school's all-time list in the 100 breast.
Senior Kaitlyn Sweeney was Bucknell's top finisher in the 100 fly, placing seventh, while sophomore Jennifer Brennan led the way in the 100 back with a fourth-place showing.
Overall, 23 Bison scored in the five individual events contested Saturday and 19 were freshmen or sophomores.
