LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell dedicated a brand new Patriot League institutional banner display in Kinney Natatorium in memory of former Bison swimmer John Hoffman '05 prior to this past Saturday's swim meet against George Washington. A brief ceremony took place on the pool deck before the meet, and a plaque on the west wall of Kinney Natatorium was unveiled, describing the memorial in Hoffman's name.
Hoffman's life was tragically cut short last fall following a courageous battle against brain cancer. He was just 27-years-old. After graduating from Monsignor Donavan High School in Toms River, N.J., in 2001, Hoffman attended and graduated from Bucknell in 2005.
A men's swimming and diving team captain as a senior, Hoffman was an All-Patriot League performer, a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and he held the school record in the 400-yard individual medley at the time of his graduation.
Hoffman earned his law degree from Widener University and was practicing with a law firm in Toms river at the time of his passing.
