Bucknell Swimming and Diving Hosts Lehigh Saturday at 1 p.m.

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving teams will wrap up the Patriot League dual portion of their schedules this weekend when they host Lehigh at 1 p.m. inside Kinney Natatorium. The meet takes place exactly four weeks before the final day of the Patriot League Championships will be held at Kinney Natatorium.
The Bison will have three home meets in an eight-day span, starting with Saturday's Lehigh dual. Bucknell will also host Connecticut next Friday (Jan. 28) evening and the Bison Invitational the following afternoon.
Men's Notebook:
- Bucknell brings a 5-4 overall record into Saturday's meet with Lehigh. The Bison are 3-2 against Patriot League opponents. Bucknell has lost three straight meets since a 5-1 start. The Bison are coming off a pair of losses to Army (L, 156-142) and Columbia (L, 137-104) last weekend.
- Freshman Mike Nicholson earned his second Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week award after six first-place finishes in two meets last weekend. He now has 18 first-place showings this season, spanning six events. He also ranks in the top 10 in Bucknell history in four events.
- In a series that began in 1960, Bucknell leads Lehigh 31-18. The Mountain Hawks won last year's meeting in Bethlehem, Pa., by a 166.5-131.5 margin, snapping a two-meet winning streak for the Bison.
- Bucknell enters Saturday's meet with an all-time record of 21-16 at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison are 3-3 at home this year.
- Lehigh opened the season with an 8-0 record, but is coming off a 194-106 home loss to Army last Friday evening. The Mountain Hawks are 3-1 against Patriot League competition this year.
Women's Notebook:
- After a 1-1 weekend against Army and Columbia, the Bison women are now 6-3 overall this year, and 3-2 against Patriot League opponents. Bucknell defeated Army (W, 201-98) and lost to Columbia (L, 141.5-96.5) last weekend.
- Junior Morgan Popple and sophomore Lisa Bolle both impressed on the diving boards last weekend. Popple, who already ranked fifth in program history off the three-meter board (224.63), bested that mark with a career-best 228.23. That figure kept her in fifth place all-time. Bolle had a similar showing off the one-meter board. She remained 10th on that all-time list, but improved her best from 218.78 to 220.65.
- Senior Molly Goebel also had a strong weekend as she recorded three individual first-place finishes and was part of a pair of gold medal-winning relays against Army and Columbia.
- Bucknell owns a 24-8 advantage over Lehigh in the all-time series. The Bison have defeated the Mountain Hawks every year since 2000-01, a string of 10 consecutive victories.
- The Bison have won nine of their last 12 home meets and are 29-10-1 overall at Kinney Natatorium since it opened in 2002-03.
- Lehigh is 4-3 overall this year and 3-0 against Patriot League competition. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 158-142 home victory over Army.
