It's hard to believe that it is senior year already. To say that time has gone by quickly would be an understatement. It is starting to set in that this is our last year and as seniors we are definitely trying to make the most of it. We have had great seniors and leaders before us who have set a very good example to follow and we have all learned a lot over the last three years. I think I can speak for all the seniors when I say that the past three years have been three of the best years of our lives and our goal for this season is to give this team, especially the freshmen, the amazing experience that we have had so far.
We are all very excited about a new season. We're off to a great start with training and coming together as a team. We have a very talented group of freshmen that have been great additions to the team. It is really great to see the drive and work ethic that the team has brought to practice so far.
We had our annual ropes course event last week, which is a great team-bonding event outside of the pool. We have also started to assess our goals and together as a team we have come up with an intense but exciting list of goals and not only what we want to accomplish as a team but also what we need to do to get there. We start off our dual meet season in just a few weeks and everyone is very excited about getting up to race.
This past week a Bucknell swimming alum, Dan Richards, came and talked to us about his accomplishment of swimming the English Channel. Needless to say it is quite an achievement and it was very exciting for us as a team to see such a high level of commitment and perseverance. It was great motivation for all of us and it was really great to see the excitement and inspiration throughout the team as a result.
We have very high expectations for the 2010-2011 season and we are ready to do the work and show everyone what we are capable of. A few more weeks of solid training and then we are into a stretch of meets throughout the fall starting in Baltimore right before fall break. Hopefully we will see many of you there in October! Go Bison!
