This is the first time in four years that I can say I have felt physically prepared coming into a season. After staying here at Bucknell over the summer and training six days a week with Bison Aquatic Club, practices so far have been going well.
As far as being mentally prepared, that's a different story. You can't say it's weird until you experience it. Coming back to school as a senior is one of the weirdest feelings I've had in my college experience. Being on campus knowing you're the oldest class is surreal. It's hard to believe that this will be my 18th and last year swimming competitively. I'm sure I will end up finding a master's program some day because I will miss swimming, but I'm sure it will be nothing like the intensity of college swimming.
But knowing that this is my last year makes me want to work harder than ever. And that is what excites me for this season. We have all come back with the mental mindset to work hard. We brought in a solid freshmen class who are all starting to show their worth in practice and out of the pool. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are also responding to the excitement and new-found intensity. We are set up for a great year.
