LEWISBURG, Pa. -- After opening the season with a victory and record scores at the Bucknell Invitational two weeks ago, the Bison women's golf team looks to pick up where it left off when it makes its first-ever appearance at the Badger Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison. The 54-hole event will be contested Sunday and Monday on the par-72, 6,205-yard layout.
Bucknell will be one of 11 teams competing in the tournament, joining the host Badgers along with Augusta State, Bradley, Drake, Georgetown, Iowa, North Dakota State, Southern Methodist, Texas-El Paso and Xavier.
Live scoring will be available through golfstat.com.
Bucknell's first tournament of the year was a rousing success. Competing with a lineup featuring two veteran all-stars in senior Katie Jurenovich and junior Minjoo Lee alongside three freshmen in Lauren Bernard, Kasha Scott and Bridget Wilcox, the Bison won the Bucknell Invitational by 19 shots over runner-up William & Mary. The team posted a school-record 296 in the final round of the 54-hole competition, and Jurenovich finished with a career-best and school-record-tying 70 and went on to win the individual title in a four-hole playoff.
Jurenovich, who was named the Big South Player of the Week after that performance, ranks third in the Big South with a 73.7 scoring average. Lee, who shot 71 in the second round and finished the tournament just one stroke behind Jurenovich, is fourth in the Big South with a 74.0 average.
University Ridge Golf Course was the site of the 1998 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, and it has been the host to four men's and women's Big Ten Championships. The Badger Invitational has been held 16 times over the years at four different courses. The last time it was contested was 2008, with California winning by 13 shots over Wisconsin.
The tournament begins with 36 holes on Sunday starting with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun, followed by an 8 a.m. shotgun for the final 18 on Monday.
