LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell field hockey's Kelly Bruvik (Skillman, N.J./Stuart Country Day) and Sarah Zargarpour (North Vancouver, Canada/Handsworth Academy) each earned their first Patriot League weekly awards on Monday following a pair of Bison shutout victories over the weekend. Bruvik was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while Zargarpour claimed Goalkeeper of the Week.
Bruvik finished the weekend with a team-best five points on two goals and an assist as Bucknell defeated Cornell 3-0 and Towson 4-0 last weekend. The senior co-captain was the only Bison to tally a goal in both contests. She also assisted on Morgan Kauffman's (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) first goal against the Tigers on Sunday.
With her five points in the latest round of play, Bruvik now has seven on the season. Her pair of goals also gave her 19 for her career, which ranks 13th all-time at Bucknell. The Offensive Player of the Week honor is the second of Bruvik's career.
Zargarpour earned her first Goalkeeper of the Week honor after finishing the weekend with a 2-0 record in goal and saving all 10 shots she faced. The junior also earned back-to-back shutouts for the first time in her career.
Zargarpour now has three career shutouts after recording her first against Saint Francis (Pa.) as freshman. That total places her in a tie for 10th in program history. Zargarpour is 2-3 on the season with a .660 save percentage and a goals against average of 2.91.
Bucknell will take on Lock Haven at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16 at Graham Field. The contest, which marks the mid-way point of a five-game homestand, can be seen live on Bison Vision at BucknellBison.com.
