LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's track and field team continued to bring in the postseason awards, earning a selection as an All-Academic Track and Field Team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday. The Bison posted a team grade point average of 3.38.
A total of 151 Division I women's programs were recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams this year. To be nominated, the squad must carry a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Bucknell was one of three Patriot League institutions to receive the honor along with Lehigh and Lafayette.
The Bison women's track and field team also placed a league-leading 55 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll this spring, adding to the program's success in the classroom.
The Bucknell men's team also earned the distinction of becoming a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team earlier in the week. Headlining the group were Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central), Robert Arent (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) and Steven Pierce (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood), who were all named to the 2010 Division I All-Academic Team as individuals.
