Bucknell Football Opens Preseason Camp Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - With Patriot League Football Media Day in the rearview mirror, the Bucknell football team is now looking forward to the opening of preseason camp. The squad's first practice under new head coach Joe Susan is slated for 9 p.m. at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium this Saturday, Aug. 7.
Susan, who was 10-0 in his only year as a head coach in 2000 at Davidson, took over the Bison program in January. He will oversee a team that returns 13 starters and 35 letterwinners from a squad that upset nationally ranked Holy Cross in the 2009 season finale.
Bucknell, which is coming off a 4-7 season, will have single practices each of the first five days of camp. The Bison will then have two practices in a day five times in the next 10 days. Highlighting the preseason practice schedule are intrasquad scrimmages on Aug. 18 (10:15 a.m.) and Aug. 22. The Aug. 22 scrimmage is slated for a 6 p.m. kickoff - the same time as Bucknell's first two regular-season contests.
There will be periodic practice updates posted on BucknellBison.com. Written practice updates will typically be accompanied by video, interviews and photos.
Bucknell single-game tickets will go on sale Aug. 16. Fans can purchase tickets by calling the Weis Center Box Office at 570-577-1000, online at www.bucknell.edu/boxoffice or in person at the Weis Center Box Office.
The Bison kick off the 2010 season Sept. 4 at Duquesne. Bucknell's first home contest is Sept. 18 against Dartmouth, the first of three consecutive home outings against Ivy League foes.
