LEWISBURG, Pa. - Megan DeGennaro (Westlake Village, Calif./La Reina) of the Bucknell women's soccer team has been named the first Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week of 2010-11. The junior forward came up with the game-winning goal in Bucknell's 1-0 victory over Ohio on Friday evening at the Gamecock Courtyard Cup in South Carolina.
The Bison and Bobcats were locked up in a scoreless duel until the 73rd minute, when DeGennaro broke in from the left flank and twisted a high shot inside the far post. The defense took over from there, and Bucknell finished off a 1-0 victory and earned a berth in the tournament championship game against Louisville. The Cardinals, who upset 13th-ranked and tourney host South Carolina, earned the title with a 2-0 win over Bucknell on Sunday afternoon.
DeGennaro, who tallied her fourth career goal, was later named to the all-tournament team.
Now 1-2 on the season, the Bison continue their difficult early schedule at home this weekend, taking on Duquesne on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Rutgers on Sunday at 2 p.m.
