LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's Patriot League Championships baseball and softball teams will see some changes to their facilities when they return to campus next month. Both Depew Field and Varsity Softball Field are receiving new dugouts this summer.
Once both teams' 2010 campaigns were complete, work crews demolished the previous bench areas at both fields. The new dugouts are now being built simultaneously at both facilities.
The addition of the dugouts is part of a larger project at West Fields. Depew Field received a new FieldTurf playing surface prior to this past season, along with a new backstop system and fencing.
Fundraising efforts to address future softball and baseball facility renovations of the fan seating areas, field lighting and scoreboards are on-going.
Recent upgrades to the athletic facilities at West Fields include the addition of Graham Field and its AstroTurf playing surface for field hockey and women's lacrosse; Emmitt Field, the home of the Bison soccer teams; and, Holmes Stadium, the double-sided grandstand and support facility for both fields that includes a covered seating area, team rooms, a press box and concession and merchandise areas.
