Bucknell Men's Swimming and Diving Announces Recruiting Class

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming and diving program announced its latest recruiting class on Tuesday. Head coach Dan Schinnerer inked six newcomers who will join the program in the fall. The class has a heavy Northeast flair with five of the six members from New York and Pennsylvania. The Class of 2014 will join a team that has finished second at each of the last three Patriot League Championships.
“We are very excited about the group of young men who will be joining our program in the fall,” commented Schinnerer. “Swimming and diving in the Patriot League is getting more and more competitive every year and we want to continue to raise the bar for our program here at Bucknell. This group of individuals will help us toward this end and can have an immediate impact on our team. I look forward to their contributions both in and out of the pool.”
Bucknell posted a 4-5 overall mark in 2009-10 and was 3-3 opposite Patriot League foes. The Bison lost a talented group of seven seniors to graduation, but will return eight of their 10 All-Patriot League selections. Freshmen made quite an impact once again for Bucknell in 2009-10 as three were named All-Patriot League, one year after five Bison rookies were cited by the league.

Marshall Lambert (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Boyertown Area) – Events: Breast, IM – Marshall Keith Lambert … born Sept. 16, 1992 in Bryn Mawr, Pa. … son of Dennis and Robin Lambert … helped Boyertown Area High School to PIAA District I team title … placed 13th in state in 100 breaststroke and seventh in the 200 medley relay at 2010 state meet at Kinney Natatorium … took 25th place at 2010 YMCA Short Course Nationals.
Mike Nicholson (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) – Events: IM, Breast, Fly – Michael Raymond Nicholson … born March 16, 1992 in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. … son of James and Susan Nicholson … named an All-American, all-league, all-section and all-county at Horace Greeley High School … 2010 Section I Co-Swimmer of the Year … Section I record-holder in 200 IM … team captain … has two siblings, David and Amanda … Amanda swam at Williams College and graduated with the school record in the 50 back.
Matt Ramey (Ruffs Dale, Pa./Southmoreland) – Events: Middle-Distance and Distance Free, Back – Matthew James Ramey … born March 4, 1992 in Jeanette, Pa. … son of Jim and Linda Ramey … four-time YMCA National All-American … 2010 YMCA state champion in 500 free … four-time YMCA National Finalist … six-time Pennsylvania state finalist … has two sisters, Leah Ramey Shaffer and Kaitlyn Ramey who both swam in college … Leah swam one year at Bloomsburg … Kaitlyn was a four-year member of the Gannon University swimming team.
Trevor Reitz (Boynton Beach, Fla./Gulliver Prep) – Events: Sprint Free, Fly – Trevor James Reitz … born Oct. 27, 1991 in Boynton Beach, Fla. … son of Chris and Debi Reitz … four-year letterwinner in swimming and water polo … three-time captain and MVP of Gulliver Preparatory School swimming team … state champion in 100 fly as a senior … placed third in state in the 50 free as a junior … three-time first-team all-county selection … three-year team captain of water polo squad … three-time all-county selection, including two first-team selections … helped team to state title as a freshman … garnered team's Rookie of the Year award as an eighth grader … sister, Cara, is a member of the women's water polo team at Michigan, helping team to three consecutive NCAA appearances.
