LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior right handed pitcher Dylan Seeley (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) was named the Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Seeley fired the 21st two-hitter in program history on Sunday during a 1-0 victory over Army that clinched a Patriot League Tournament berth for the Bison.
Seeley, who picked up his second weekly honor of the season, allowed a pair of two-out hits in the first inning and proceeded to retire the next 18 hitters in a row before a two-out error in the final frame of the seven-inning contest.
Seeley has now pitched three consecutive complete games, including two shutouts, and has allowed just one run over that span (21.0 innings). His ERA has gone from 4.78 to a career-low 3.47, which lists third in the Patriot League. Seeley has yielded just 14 hits over his last three outings, all wins, and has 10 strikeouts and just three walks.
With wins in each of his last three starts, Seeley now owns a team-best 5-3 record on the season. Twice in those three starts the Bison have scored just one run as Ben Yoder provided a solo home run in a 1-0 victory over Navy two weeks ago and Doug Shribman hit a solo home run in Sunday's win at Army. Bucknell is outscoring its opposition 73-48 in Seeley's 11 starts this year, including 10-1 over the last three outings.
Seeley has recorded career bests in wins (5), complete games (3), shutouts (2), innings pitched (70.0) and strikeouts (44) this year. His 13 career wins place him one victory shy of 10th place on the program's all-time list.
Bucknell (21-31, 8-12) will be idle until the Patriot League Tournament first-round series against top-seeded Army May 15-16. The Bison are the fourth seed in the four-team tournament and will meet the Black Knights in a best-of-three series at Doubleday Field.
