LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell men's lacrosse's Austin Winter (Boonton Twp., N.J./Mountain Lakes) has been selected to play in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/LaxWorld North-South All-Star Game, the USILA announced today. Winter, who led the Bison in points and assists in 2010, will play for the South Team at Goucher College in Towson, Md., Friday, May 28. The Division I/II contest is slated for 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $5 on site on the day of the game.
A two-time All-American, Winter started all 14 games at attack for Bucknell this season. He followed his recognition as the 2010 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year by leading the Bison in assists (23) and points (44), and was third on the team in goals (21). His assists total was also third in the Patriot League, while his 3.14 points per game average was fourth in the league.
Following the 2010 campaign, Winter was named First Team All-Patriot League for the fourth time, making him the only Bucknellian and just the second league player to achieve the feat. The senior continues to leave his mark in the program record books by finishing his career ranked third at Bucknell in assists with 117 and fourth in points with 194. He is also looking to become the Orange and Blue's first ever three-time All-American, with honors being released later this month.
Winter becomes the fourth Bison in the last three years to earn a spot on the USILA South Team. He joins recent selections Billy Haire and Joe Mele in 2009, and Mark Lane in 2008.
Bucknell closed out 2010 with an 8-6 record overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League. The Bison qualified for the Patriot League Tournament on Winter's overtime goal to defeat Colgate, 8-7, in the teams' final regular-season contest.
