LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's water polo team is making a habit of volunteering at animal care establishments. In the fall the Bison volunteered at T&D's Cats of the World in nearby Penns Creek, Pa. This past February, Bucknell players spent time volunteering at Mostly Mutts Dog Shelter in Sunbury, Pa.
Mostly Mutts is a no-kill dog shelter that takes care of and finds adoptive homes for rescued, abandoned and lost dogs. Recently, the Mostly Mutts facility suffered flood damage and several of the paths the staff uses for walking the dogs had been covered by snow, so members of the Bison squad helped restore the facility and clear the paths.
Mostly Mutts has more than 75 dogs and a handful of elderly staff, meaning it was especially appreciate of the women's water polo team's assistance. In addition to clearing the trails, team members transferred several bags of dog food into the sheds and walked many of the dogs.
Volunteering at Mostly Mutts is one of the many demonstrations of the Bucknell women's water polo team's year-long commitment to community service.
