Fitzgerald Finishes Third in High Jump as Bison Track & Field Places Ninth at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Bucknell men's track and field put two Bison in the points column in the high jump before adding the shuttle hurdle and 4x1500 relays to its list of scorers, but the Bison dropped two places in the team standings, taking ninth at the William & Mary Colonial Relays on Saturday. Drew Fitzgerald (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) was the team's top finisher, claiming third in the high jump.
Bucknell's totaled 42.5 points in the meet. Rutgers took the men's title handily with 128 points.
Fitzgerald qualified for the IC4A Championships in the high jump with his team-high finish. The junior cleared 6 feet, 8 ¼ inches. Andrew Powell (Charlton, Mass./St. John's) also scored with a seventh-place finish in the event. Powell cleared 6-6 ¼ on the final day of the meet, one day after claiming 11th in the long jump.
The shuttle hurdle relay of Robert Arent (New Providence, N.J./New Providence), Dan Mularz (Englishtown, N.J./Freehold Township), Sean Coyne (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) and Andrew Yehl (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) was fourth with a time of 1 minute, 6.30 seconds. Finishing sixth was the 4x1500 relay of Matthew Brooker (Spring Mills, Pa./Penn's Valley), Robert Yamnicky (Shelton, Conn./Shelton), Kyle Ramer Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and Dustin Horning (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) in 16:28.29.
The Bison also earned a trio of ninth-place finishes, including the distance medley relay (10:05.44), Jonathan Lockhart (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) in the discus (145-1) and the 4x100 relay (42.57).
Bucknell's next action will be the Bison Outdoor Classic. Competition at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium is set for April 9-10.
