BOSTON - Amy Mantush (Hazelton, Pa./Drums) placed seventh in the high jump, earning All-East honors as Bucknell women's track and field opened competition at the ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center on Saturday. The 4x800 relay also qualified for Sunday's finals to lead the Bison on the track.
Mantush cleared 5 feet, 5 inches in the high jump. The mark earned the senior her first career All-East accolades. Also excelling in the field events were Chelsey Musante (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and Sarah Bella (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) in the shot put. The duo finished ninth and 12th, respectively.
The 4x800 relay, made of Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X), Jennifer Pierce (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands), Allison Janda (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) and Caroline Tolli (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) finished eighth in the prelims with a time of 9 minutes, 12.06 seconds. The finish earns the unit a berth in the finals, to be run at 3:20 p.m. tomorrow.
The relay is not the only team in action on the second and final day of the ECAC Championships. Musante, Casey Krause (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and Rebecca Frey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) will compete in the field events, while Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional) will race in the 3000.
