Bucknell Women's Track & Field Earns Two Top-10 Finishes at ECAC Championships

BOSTON - Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional) ran a personal best and moved into third in the Bison's record books in the 3000 meters at the ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center on Sunday. Bucknell women's track and field also claimed a pair of top-10 finishes in Chelsey Musante (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and the 4x800 relay in their final meet of the indoor season.
Moniz smashed her previous personal-record time by five seconds, crossing the line in 9 minutes, 50.33 seconds. The junior finished 14th overall, but improved to third place on the Bucknell top-10 list.
Musante earned her second top-10 finish at the championship meet by placing eighth in the weight throw. Musante posted a mark of 55 feet, 3 inches in her second event in as many days. The senior also placed ninth in the shot put (44-9 ¾) yesterday.
Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X), Jennifer Pierce (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands), Allison Janda (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) and Caroline Tolli (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) finished ninth in the final event of the day. The quartet completed the 4x800 relay in 9:25.23.
Also in action today was Rebecca Frey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) in the pole vault where she finished 11th by clearing 11-7 ¾. Casey Krause (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) was 24th in the triple jump (36-7 ¾).
The Bison placed 46th with 2.5 points as a team. Leading the field was Connecticut, who won the meet with 84.5 points.
Bucknell will return for the outdoor season for the Maryland Invitational and Susquehanna Invitational on March 27.
