Bucknell Women's Water Polo Wraps Up California Trip with 11-7 Loss to No. 13 UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. – The Bucknell women's water polo team completed its weeklong trip to California on Saturday with an 11-7 loss at No. 13 UC Irvine. Haley Prickett scored a season-high three goals to pace the Bison offense, which was outscored 4-2 in the second half.
Bucknell (9-7) went 3-2 in its five games in California, with both losses coming to ranked teams. UC Irvine improved to 8-10 on the season with its victory.
Prickett's three goals led the Bison, while Shana Palencia also tallied a multi-goal outing with a pair of score. Kandis Canonica also had a solid offensive night with one goal and three assists. She extended her own program record for assists to 152.
Despite yielding 11 goals, the Bucknell defense was strong with 12 steals, including four apiece from Hallie Kennan and goalie Alison Carter. Carter also had seven saves, bringing her season total to 147.
After 12 goals were scored in the first half, the two teams combined for just six in the final 16 minutes of play.
Bucknell, which was 5-for-11 on six-on-five opportunities, will be back in action next weekend when it hosts league games against Princeton, George Washington and Maryland in Kinney Natatorium.
