Bucknell Women's Water Polo Defeats Concordia, 12-8

IRVINE, Calif. – Four Bison tallied multi-goal games led by Kandis Canonica's three scores as the Bucknell women's water polo team came from behind to defeat Concordia, 12-8, Friday afternoon. The Bison outscored Concordia 11-6 in the middle two periods after facing a one-goal deficit following the first period.
Canonica, who leads Bucknell in scoring with 52 points this season, registered a team-high four points on Friday as she dished out an assist to go along with her three goals. Shana Palencia, Valentina Rozas, Hallie Kennan and Krystle Morgan each scored two goals, while Tara Murao rounded out the Bison offensive attack with a single score. Both of Kennan's goals came on five-meter penalty shots.
In addition to her four points, Canonica had two steals and a pair of ejections drawn. Rozas also had a solid day with two steals, one ejection drawn and a season-high four field blocks. She now has 297 points in her career, ranking third on the program's all-time list.
Alison Carter (four saves) and Brittany Connell (two saves) split time in goal. Connell did not give up a score in the fourth quarter, while Concordia found the back of the net eight times against Carter, who now has 600 career saves.
After 17 goals were scored in the middle two periods, neither team was able to score in the fourth quarter.
Bucknell (9-6) improved to 3-1 on its Spring Break trip to California. The Bison will wrap up the weeklong journey Saturday at 10 p.m. Eastern against No. 13 UC Irvine.
