LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bison women's golf team is in Hilton Head, S.C., this weekend for its second tournament of the spring. The Low Country Intercollegiate, co-hosted by defending champion Western Carolina and 2009 runner-up Wofford, gets underway Saturday morning at Moss Creek Golf Club's South Course.
Like in Bucknell's 2010 spring debut at Kiawah Island, it will face another star-studded field this weekend. The field includes four teams ranked among the GolfStat top 100, with half the field ranking among the top 150 teams in the country.
In addition to the tournament hosts, the Bison will line up against Appalachian State, The Citadel, Gardner-Webb, Radford, Augusta State, Cincinnati, Elon, Jacksonville, James Madison, Penn State and Richmond.
The 36-hole tournament begins with 10 a.m. tee times on Saturday, followed by a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
Bucknell coach Kevin Jamieson will send out the same five-player lineup as three weeks ago at Kiawah: senior Leah Antkiewicz, junior Katie Jurenovich, sophomores Minjoo Lee and Brittany Rendell, and freshman Alana Friedlander. Sophomore Kelsey Meybin, the team's No. 3 scorer in the fall, remains out with an injury.
Lee was the team's top finisher last time out. She posted rounds of 79-78-82, leading the team each day. Jurenovich also had a solid start, posting 79-80-83.
Following the Low Country Intercollegiate, the Bison return to action the following weekend at the William & Mary Invitational at Ford's Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, Va.
