Bucknell is coming off a 1-1 weekend in the Lehigh Valley. Last Friday the Bison defeated Lafayette 2-1, then fell to Lehigh by the same score on Sunday. The loss to Lehigh snapped Bucknell's three-game winning streak and dropped its overall record to 4-11. The Orange & Blue opened Patriot League play with a 3-0 win over American.
Last weekend Navy lost 1-0 to arch-rival Army at West Point on Friday, but then rebounded with a 1-0 victory over Holy Cross on Sunday. The Mids are 9-6-1 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League, with their other conference win coming at Colgate, 2-0 on Oct. 1. Despite the loss to Army, Navy has been hot lately. It is 7-2 over its last nine games and have outscored opponents 24-6 during that span.
Army currently sits atop the Patriot League table with a 2-0-1 record and seven points, but Bucknell, Navy and Lehigh are all just a point behind at 2-1-0. American is 1-1-1, followed by Colgate (1-2-0), Lafayette (0-2-1) and Holy Cross (0-2-1).
In three of the last four seasons, Bucknell or Navy has captured the Patriot League regular-season title. In 2006 and 2007, the Bison finished first in the Patriot League standings, with the Mids within two points of the lead both years. Navy won the 2007 Patriot League championship on Bucknell's home field. In 2008, Navy won the regular-season title while Bucknell was the runner-up. Both teams were in the top four again last season, but both suffered 1-0 losses in the semifinals in Hamilton, N.Y.

Bucknell vs. Navy Series Notes
• Navy holds an 11-7-1 lead in a series that dates back to 1994.
• Bucknell and Navy had played six straight one-goal affairs until the Bison won 3-1 last season in Lewisburg.
• The two teams have met in the postseason three times. In the 1995 Patriot League Tournament semifinals, Navy knocked out the top-seeded Bison (who had been unbeaten in league play in the regular-season) by a 2-0 margin. Bucknell's first Patriot League title came with a 2-1 overtime victory over Navy in Annapolis in 2001. Lauren Schwarz's overtime penalty kick was the difference. Then in 2007 in Lewisburg, Navy edged the Bison 1-0 in the championship game on Carissa Youker's goal late in the first half.
• Interestingly, the visiting team has had plenty of success in this series. The Bison are 4-4-1 in Annapolis, while the Mids are 7-3-0 in Lewisburg.
• Navy has outscored Bucknell 33-21 in the series. Bucknell's 1-0 win in 2007 is its only shutout against Navy.
• Last season at rainy Emmitt Field, Christa Matlack scored two first half goals and Brooke Stokes connected on a big insurance tally in the second half to lift Bucknell to a 3-1 Senior Day win over Navy. It was one of Bucknell's best 90 minutes of the season, as it posted three goals on an 11-2-2 team that came into the game outscoring foes 31-8. Katelyn George scored Navy's lone goal on a corner kick sequence.
• In the last meeting in Annapolis in 2008, Navy prevailed 1-0 on Kristen Laraway's 20-yard strike 4:15 into overtime.
Bison Notebook
• Bucknell had to come from behind to defeat Lafayette last Friday. The Bison trailed 1-0 at the half, but then Christa Matlack and Brooke Stokes scored in the 59th and 77th minutes to win it.
• Caitlin Holtz scored on a penalty kick at Lehigh on Sunday, but it came in the 84th minute with the Bison trailing 2-0 at the time. Bucknell was held to a season-low six shots by the Mountain Hawks.
• Tara Cort did most of the work on two of the team's three goals last weekend, even though it was minimally reflected in the stat sheet. On the winning goal against Lafayette, Cort carried the ball about 50 yards down the center of the field, weaving around defenders as she approached the box. After drawing out the goalkeeper, she slipped a perfect pass to her right to Stokes, who finished to give Bucknell a 2-1 lead. On Sunday, Cort was taken down in the box to draw the penalty shot, which Holtz later converted.
• Matlack's goal was her team-leading fifth of the season. She also has two assists, giving her a team-high 12 points on the year.
• Matlack became only the fifth player in program history to record 30 career goals, five of which have now come against Lafayette. She tied Kerry McDonnell for fifth on the Bucknell all-time list.
• Holtz now has three goals on the season, a new career high. It was Holtz's second career penalty kick, with the other coming last season at American.
• Stokes' goal against Lafayette was her first of the season and fifth of her career.
• Matlack, Cort, Casey Crowley and Kelliann Doherty are tied for the team lead with two assists apiece.
• Goalkeeper Sandita McDermott now has a .760 save percentage with 76 saves and 24 goals against. Her save total is second-highest in the Patriot League.
• Matlack is tied for fifth in the Patriot League in both goals and points.
• Navy (78) and Bucknell (65) rank 1-2 in the Patriot League in corner kicks attempted.
