To kick off the fall season, the Bucknell women's lacrosse team took a trip to Cowan for a day filled with team building activities (click on the link above to see some photos of our day). CLIMBucknell at Cowan is Bucknell University's own high ropes course and rock-climbing wall. Arriving at Cowan early Saturday morning, the team started with a few warm-up team building activities like blob tag before heading into the woods.
The most challenging activity conquered in the woods required the entire team to cross a cable cord zigzagged between trees and elevated about a foot off the ground. This challenge required patience, trust in your teammates and most of all, balance. After, many failed attempts and testing of strategies, the entire team finally succeeded. After the adventure in the woods, half the team scaled the rock wall and the other half tackled the high ropes course.
Among the many high ropes activities, the favorite was probably the leap of faith, which consisted of jumping off a small platform on a tall telephone like pole in an attempt to grab onto a trapeze dangling in the air about 5 feet away. We concluded the fun-filled day with a team picnic. The trip was an overall awesome experience that not only was physically challenging but also built a lot of trust within the team.
In addition to the team building activities done at Cowan, the team has also had a fun time bonding through a series of "Minute to Win It" challenges. We were divided into two teams and each team member battled their opponent in two challenges that had to be completed in one minute. Some of the challenges included stacking 3 golf balls on top of each other and sorting colored M&Ms in different bowls as fast as possible. These outrageous challenges were definitely enjoyed by the whole team, and it was a great way to support and bond with fellow teammates.
